It was inevitable that two progenitors or 21st Century Street Fashion (The Method and Art Gallery) would join together and fight the ill fitting mediocrity of “shocking modern day yoof culture”. The Method’s brand new single – the best thing they have released – works in tandem with the new Art Gallery knitted polo short designed in honour of the band.
‘Art Gallery’ combines an incessant, foot to the floor driving rhythm with numerous stops, starts, pauses and crescendos. Its main Beatles-like melody cajoling itself through all manner of psychedelic effects, surf guitar lines and trumpet break. The three-minute running time over rides specific references to create a future radio smash akin to Julian Cope’s anthemic ‘World Shut Your Mouth’. Capturing the unbridled essence of The Cramps, The Coral and pre-Steppenwolf ’60s garage/psych band The Sparrow it’s a fast paced, pounding affair that has all the hallmarks of a good old hit record.
Art Gallery is released on Limited Edition 7" Orange Coloured Vinyl on the 5th March 2012.
